Estate Planning

Putting together a well-thought out estate plan is one of the most important things you can do for your loved ones. It is tempting to put off your estate planning to another day, after all, who wants to think about planning for things such as death, incapacity and taxes?

If you do not think about these things now and get a plan into place, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will do it for you.  After all, the government is surely going to look out for your best interests, minimize your tax bill and keep a watchful eye on your estate administration fees.

AML Law Associates, LLC., is dedicated to counseling clients who wish to preserve their wealth and benefit their loved ones through responsible estate plans designed to avoid probate, minimize estate taxes and pass their estate to the next generation efficiently and privately.  The fact is, every family should have its own, customized estate plan created by an attorney who is concentrated on estate planning.  Only then can you enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing that you and the people you love will be taken care of should you become disabled or incapacitated, as well as after you pass away.

Your estate plan must be customized to meet your particular personal and family goals, not generated from a computer program or a “one plan fits all” form that could cause more problems than having no plan at all.  A well-drafted estate plan will allow your assets to pass to loved ones quickly and privately without court intervention following your death.  It will allow your estate to end up in the hands of those that matter most, instead of being left at the mercy of others. In short, spending some time and resources on a well-drafted estate plan will ensure that your estate passes to whom you want, when you want, and how you want.

Sadly, many families do not do proper estate planning because they think it is only for the very wealthy.  Not so.  Our clients come from all walks of life, ranging from very modest estates to the wealthy.  Regardless of your net worth, the estate plan we create for you will help maintain harmony in your family; protect your hard-earned assets; use the tax laws to your advantage so as to minimize estate taxes; and protect your loved ones’ inheritances from ending up in the hands of unintended beneficiaries, such as creditors or the government.  In short, your estate plan will be designed to protect what matters most – your family, your wealth and your legacy.

Perhaps you already have an estate plan?  If so, chances are we can make it significantly better.  After all, an outdated or inadequate plan can sometimes be worse than no plan at all.  Why?  Because laws change.  People do, too.  They get married and divorced, have children, develop financial problems like bankruptcy or personal problems such as substance abuse or physical or mental handicaps.  Indeed, change is a part of life, and to be truly confident that your needs and those of your family are taken care of, your estate plan must change as well.
